Housefly (Cedric de Saint-Rome) is a composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist (drums, classical and jazz piano, percussion, guitar, saxophone, and ukulele) from Montreal, Canada. Having been selected at the age of 10 to represent Quebec in a national youth composition competition, Housefly’s genre-bending works break apart and fuse elements from countless styles including jazz, hip hop, blues, electronic dance music, and classical.
Canadian by birth, Housefly’s multinational background (counting Finnish, Swedish, French, and Haitian among his recent ancestries) contributes a multi-platform melodic and rhythmic sensitivity to his music, which resonates with audiences from North American adolescents to European classical music buffs. His Royal Conservatory examinations and awards in classical piano competitions would probably come as a surprise those who follow him as Housefly. He is currently in his second year of studying jazz piano at McGill University.
